Pumpkin Carving

The Pumpkin Patch Parable by Liz Curtis Higgs is a cute children's book that Owen has enjoyed reading this Fall season. The book explains how a small seed turns into a pumpkin and the steps the farmer takes in turning the pumpkin into a jack-o-lantern. Owen had the privilege of picking and washing pumpkins and last week he watched Daddy carve his pumpkin.

Aubrey had the honor of pulling the stem off, but she needed a little help from Daddy.

Because of our reading Owen was aware of what was inside the pumpkin but it was a whole new experience for him to be able to see it, smell it and touch it.

Aubrey is a Daddy's girl and likes to be wherever he is. She sat in the corner next to his chair looking at books while he carved the pumpkin. I had to crawl under the table to get the picture below.

Here he is! And he even has a name:

The last thing the farmer in the book does is wait until it's dark outside and then put a candle inside the pumpkin. Owen was very excited to do this!

Cool pumpkin Owen! You and Daddy did a great job!

I love the picture of Aubrey on the floor. So precious that she wants to be with him all the time. Hannah is like that with her daddy. I melt.
