Can you offer us some suggestions?

I realize that many of you are not blogging right now because you are traveling for the holidays. But for those of you that are reading, I need your help. Ben is supposed to preach on Sunday and barely has his voice. He came down with a cold about two weeks ago and can't get rid of it. He doesn't have a cough, just a VERY raspy voice. He's been taking mucinex and vitamin C, eating oranges every day, drinking lots of water, and still not getting better. At this rate I don't think he will be able to preach. (This reminds me of the episode in Brady Bunch when Carol lost her voice and needed it to sing in the Christmas church service. If I remember correctly Cindy asked Santa to give Carol her voice back and he did. Has anybody been good enough to ask Santa for a favor?)
Do you have any suggestions?

I had the same problem for the last two weeks. I am just now getting over it. I found gargling with warm salt water before bed helped a lot. That and flat Coke. The syrup puts a coating on your throat. That's an old Camp Barakel remedy that I found actually works too.
Hope that helps, I'm really looking forward to hearing Ben speak. We'll be praying :)

That is going through our church and school too! Most of teachers here lost their voices for quite awhile...the one teacher drank warm tea with real lemon juice in it!!! Not sure if it will help or not...i drank it the other night before our Cantata and it seemed to keep my voice stronger through the entire thing!!

Besides everything you're all ready doing, I second the suggestion of gargling warm salt water. Matt's Mexican mom always suggests that when he has a sore throat (and she's got lots of home remedies up her sleeve).

I would recommend roasting a whole garlic and rubbing it all over his chest. You could also try tying a small onion around his neck while he sleeps. Putting a glass half full of vinegar by his bedside might help too.

I'm totally joking. I had fun thinking that stuff up. :) I don't mean to sound unsympathetic about Ben's ill heath. I'm praying that he's feeling better and was able to preach today! :)
