I wasn't particularly entertained much by the commercials during last night's game. They were not nearly as funny as they have been in the past.
What was more disappointing than the commercials was the half-time show. I was surprised when I heard that Prince was going to be performing. To be honest, I didn't know he was still around. I haven't heard about him in years. I can't say that I enjoyed his music - or the show at all really. I kept saying to Ben, "Is he gay? Seriously, he's wearing eye make-up and I would love to have his figure." Anyway, I was not impressed. The media seems to be giving it a thumbs up. While we were watching it, Ben turned to me and said, "Does anybody actually like this?" I obviously didn't, but I'm curious, did you?

We were disappointed with this year's commercials too. You're not alone! We only watched the prince concert for a minute to see what all the hype was about. And no, we were not impressed. It just sounded like loud guitar screeching and prince squealing not singing to me.
I was not impressed at all with the commercials, and that's the only reason I watch the Superbowl! I didn't really watch much of Prince, but he seemed to be exactly the same as 1987. couldn't they get anyone better?
We turned off the halftime show so I couldn't tell you...actually we were watching it at our church and they turned it off. I wouldn't have mind watching it just to see what he looks like now adays.
I would have to agree with everyone else...commericals were rather dry and boring this year.
It was really lame. I really don't like Prince AT ALL!!
I watched it in HDTV on the big screen at church along with a couple dozen other folks. We showed a halftime program which was primarily a testimony of a couple of the stars of 2006's game. Did you all catch the winning coach, Tony Dungy say that he was proud to be in the first Superbowl that had two African-American coaches, but was more proud to be in one featuring two committed, witnessing Christian coaches?
I would question any guy's sexuality that actually likes Prince. And about Phil's comment... My Pastor was talking about that Sunday morning. I knew that Tony Dungy was a Christian but did not know that Lovie Smith was as well. Pastor read a whole paragraph briefy telling both of their testimonies and both coaches signed it and had it printed in the USA today. Thats awesome and it gave me cold chills!!
I found myself disappointed with the halftime show, not because Prince was performing, but because I intently watched every second of it, certain that someone was going to be taking a spill on that wet stage. And no one did. What a crock.
I think the reason that the half time show and commercials are getting so lame is because every year there has been controversy - ie- Janet Jackson and then the Desperate Housewives commercial with Nicolette Sheridan last year dropping her towel...it seems every year there is an uproar about something or other...these advertizers feel that the only way to have a good show is to make it as dirty as possible, but thankfully there are still well rounded people in America who will speak out against all that. Even though Prince nausiated me, I'm just thankful he didn't expose anything!!!!!!!!!! Hopefully next year they'll get more creative.
Phil and Korey,
I didn't hear the testimonies myself, by they sure sound awesome.
Josh,
I hate to admit it, but I was thinking the same thing while watching! I kept thinking somebody would have to fall, the stage looked so slippery!
Traci,
Great point! Prince's figure gives me the creeps. I just don't like it when a man isn't manly. But anyway . . . I am SO glad he didn't have a "costume malfunction."
