My Weekend

Boy do the weekends go by fast! I know they do for everybody. Friday after school I enjoyed a couple of hours in my garden. It's that time of year to clear out the weeds, mow the grass, etc. Around 6:00 p.m. three of my seventh grade girls came over. We ordered pizza, went for a bike ride, played at the park and then came home to play some card games. While at the park I was reminded of how old I am getting. I am only 26, but boy do I feel a lot different than I did in high school. I went down the spiral slide, without a problem. The swings were okay except I realized that hips are a bit wider than they were in high school because the swing was a bit tight. Then I proceeded to try out the monkey bars. I remember the days when I could skip a couple of bars, hang, flip, you name it. On Friday, I couldn't even swing across. Of course I have always been a wimp when it comes to upper body strength. My arms are quite weak. Anyhow, the girls left around 10:30 and I went to bed shortly after.
On Saturday I got to sleep in! My husband surprised me by going out for donuts while I was still in bed. He spent the day in his office working on his sermon for Sunday. I spent a few more hours in the yard and then went shopping with a friend of mine. Saturday night we had dinner with some friends and enjoyed a long walk up to the ice cream shop. I sure do enjoy these nice warm days!
Ben preached a wonderful sermon out of Romans 6 this morning at church. I may be a little bias, but he is a really good speaker. After church we went out to lunch and took along with us one of our students from school. I have to admit that I think it is kind of nice that our students enjoy spending time with us. We love having them in our home and taking them along to places with us! They are our kids in some ways.
I am currently at school trying to finish up my lesson plans for the week. But as I look at the clock I realize that it is now time to leave for our Sunday evening youth clubs and I haven't cracked a book yet! I guess I will be here after church again.
I hope you all enjoyed your weekend too!

sounds like a full weekend! It's so nice to be able to connect with your students and that they enjoy spending time with you all! (why wouldn't they!!)
don't you hate that when you want to get something done and you get side tracked with something else...that's what this entire last month has been like for me! :)

i am the same exact way when it comes to upper body strength - total weakling. toting around a 25 lb. chloe has helped that though. maybe you need to get a little tyke of your own to increase your arm strength. :)

you teach 7th grade? how fun! i used to teach 7-9 grade math and science. i was floored, and challenged, by how much those kids looked up to me and adored me. (i'm not saying i'm all that cool it's just their attitude at that age) how fun and yet how challenging to know that they admire you so much.

hope you got those lesson plans done. you won't miss those one single little tiny eensy weensy bit when you move to KY. :)

Life is pretty busy there for the two of you. How much longer do you have before you move to KY? It's great that you can spend time with your students. I'm sure they really enjoy coming to your home and will miss that a lot when you leave.
Tom and i are beginning to get boxes to begin our packing early so we can do a little at a time.
Oh the joys of moving.

Hi, Kelly--Karen (formerly Stine) here. I came across your blog through Christina's. It's so fun to catch myself up with all the long-lost NBBC people! :)

Hi Karen,
Thanks for the comment. I have been reading yours for quite some time now. I am usually in a hurry so I just skim through everybody's blog and often do not take time to comment. I did see your prego picture and you look beautiful! I wish my belly stuck out for the same reason. =)
