Family Picture before opening presents. We don't start opening gifts until about 11:00 p.m. so we might look a bit tired here.
Dad reads Luke chapter 2 every year. When he is finished he tears up as he expresses his thankfulness for his family.
Everyone piled up on the couch. Everybody looks squished except me and Ben. Maybe we were taking up more than our share of the couch. Oops!
We spent a good portion of the day playing games. We got there around noon and didn't leave until 2 in the morning. That's a lot of time to play games - we love it!
Outside shooting guns. (Isn't that man with the binoculars good looking?!?!?)
Sarah's got a good aim.
Playing "Narbles." This game originated when the kids were little. Michael apparently called the marbles "narbles," and the name stuck. Michael and I kicked butt in this game.
Something doesn't look right in this picture. Could it be because I have nice nails and a rifle in my hand? The two just don't seem to go together.

I'm with you, guns and nails don't go. But I've never been a fan of guns - even play ones. The game playing looks like great fun though! What's that card game in the top picture?
Oops, it's not the top picture, it's the 4th one!
Alicia,
The card game is GOLF. Have you ever heard of it? We played it a lot in college. Ben and I just taught his family how to play. It's super easy.
We played Golf too on Christmas eve!
Kara,
Where did you learn to play? I don't think it's a very popular game - at least I don't know a lot of people who play.
Kelly,
Didn't you and Ben play with us on the occasional Game Night at the Veihl's? FOr some reason I think you taught it to us. We played Golf every Tuesday night back then. Good Times!
Kelly,
Lance and I also play GOLF. I was taught by his family and I taught mine how to play. We only play with 6 cards it looked like you guys were playing with 8. How many decks do you use?
Golf! I love that game :) We played it on game night but I think it was James B. who taught us at game night. It looks like you guys had a great time!
Pam,
I went to game night a couple of times, but not very often - we still lived in Flint at the time. I don't know if I taught you or not. I have taught a lot of people. :)
Shelby,
We always use 2 decks. Sometimes three depending on how many people are playing.
You're going to have to explain golf to me. My hubby's favorite sport is actual golf so learning a card game named after golf might be fun for him. Is it more of a group game than a 2 person game?
Alicia,
Somehow I am missing all of these comments - they aren't being emailed to me. I can email you directions to the game. It's really easy and yes, two people can play.
