This morning I was on my way to school when I heard this weird noise, "thump, thump, thump." I immediately thought something was wrong with my car. I put my ear close to the radio and noticed that it was on but the volume was really low. So I quickly turned it off and the thump noise was gone. I thought, "Whew, thank you Lord. I thought something was wrong with my car." A few seconds later I thought the car "felt" differently. I don't know how to explain it, but it didn't seem like it was driving correctly. All of the sudden everything started shutting down on me. The lights on my dashboard were out (except for one bright one that said, "VOLTS"), my headlights turned off, the horn wouldn't work, the windows wouldn't go down. I quickly picked up my cell phone (praise the Lord for cell phones!) and called my husband. I told him the car was not working properly and all of my lights were out (it was still dark outside) but I was going to continue on to school - like that makes a lot of sense. After waiting for a red light, I pressed on the gas to go and it s-l-o-w-l-y started to move without any gusto at all. And my old car has some gusto! (j/k). Unfortunately many of the roads here do not have a shoulder, which I think is crazy. It's really annoying when somebody breaks down or gets pulled over because they literally stop right in their lane and can't get off the road, thus slowing down the rest of us. So as I am trying to get my car to move I have all of these cars whipping around me and honking their horns. It was so frustrating because I had no way of indicating that I was having a problem. My horn wouldn't work and my hazard lights wouldn't turn on. Finally I was able to cross over a lane of traffic to get to a Wendy's parking lot. Right before I got to the parking lot I noticed that the car seemed ready to move now. I told Ben, who I was still on the phone with, that I was going to keep driving to school. Ben quickly vetoed that and told me to get OFF the road. I sorta coasted into the parking lot and Ben told me to turn the car off. I did. He then told me to try and re-start it. I did. It wouldn't. Thankfully Ben's semester is over - or he would have been in class at that time - and was able to come help me. He brought me to school, carried my bags up to my classroom, and left to go see if he could fix the car. Boy, am I thankful for Ben!!!
Right now I am praying that either we can fix the car relatively inexpensively, or get another one. I bought the car in the spring of 2002. I only paid $1,000 for it. I have had no problems with it over the last 4 and a half years and it has over 256,000 miles on it. It's been a great car and a worthy investment!
So, I made it to school today. Good thing too because I am starring as Mary in the staff Christmas skit this morning for the school Christmas assembly. What would they do without Mary??
And by the way, it's exam week which is why I have time to type this.

glad you made it to school safely. but i have to say, it's sounding like trusty rusty is going to bite the dust soon. hope it holds out for ya. :)
God sure was looking out for you this morning. I hope you can fix it up or find a new one easily. And you say your life is boring.
God's hand was certainly on you this morning. Glad you made it to a parking lot. We'll pray it is an easy fix or something reliable and cheap comes your way :)

Thank the Lord for husbands that veto us! Praise God that He kept you safe and still got you to school on time. What perfect timing of God's to have the car die when Ben's finished the term and when you have Christmas break to get a different one!
