1. Grab a calculator.
2. Key in the first three digits of your phone number (NOT the area code)
3. Multiply by 80
4. Add 1
5. Multiply by 250
6. Add the last 4 digits of your phone number
7. Add the last 4 digits of your phone number again.
8. Subtract 250
9. Divide number by 2
Do you recognize the answer?
And to think that some of you don't think math is fun!

It's not.
P.S. Can't wait to see you Sunday!! Kara
I second that!
Wait I won't see you on Sunday. So I just second the "It's not" part.
You two must both be on-line at the exact same time! Did you follow the directions and get your number? Come on! You don't think that's fun??? :) Okay, I am dork.
Sorry I won't see you on Sunday Jenny - wish you could be there too. We are looking forward to seeing you Kara - and everyone else!
Little James' favorite thing is math and numbers. He thought this was SO COOL!!! Thank you for making the day of our 8 year old math nerd :)
i thought it was cool. i love those things.
In the words of my students today, "That's so cool!"
That's creepy!!! I wonder who in the world ever figured that formula out????
crazy!
That ranks VERY high on the "cool" scale.
for the record, it doesn't exactly work with German phone numbers, close though.
...worked with my Grandma's phone number, though.
Kelly-
For the record, I love math! That little problem is the coolest! Where do you find such things? On the side, I think about you and Ben often! Praying that you have a wonderful rest of the week. Amy
Amy,
I find fun math problems all over the place - the internet, textbooks, magazines, etc. My students will often email me things they find too.
Thank you for your thoughts and prayers! We will actually be in Michigan this weekend, though we will be going to church in Saginaw. Wish we could see you all!
