One of Owen's little friends had a birthday party last weekend at Boyd Orchards. The children and their families enjoyed a hay ride, cook-out over an open fire, climbing hay bales and running through a corn maze. It was a really fun, family-friendly night!
My camera stopped working properly shortly after we arrived but here are the pictures I was able to capture.
The hay ride
Of course the only picture where I was able to get both of our faces is also the picture where we aren't smiling!
Owen had a blast climbing on these big bales of hay. He started out with some help from Daddy.
But it didn't take long for him to start climbing them on his own. It's hard to tell from the pictures, but they were very large for a little guy to climb.
Jumping from one to the other
And landing! Before the night was over he was able to jump all the way to the end without falling on his knees.
Aubrey watched Owen run across all the hay bales and then decided she wanted a turn. She ran to the bottom of the first bale and pointed, whined and begged for a turn to climb.
When Daddy gave her a turn she was ALL smiles!
She thought it was even better when Daddy got up there with her.
Owen has many, many girl friends.

What a fantastic idea for a birthday party!! I love that the whole family got to come and have fun -- so often nowadays only the little ones and moms are invited.
